What is the security deposit?
The security deposit varies based on the duration of the contract (and in any case will never be requested for stays of less than 30 days), but in any case it never exceeds 3 months' rent. It is requested to guarantee the good maintenance of the apartment or room and the common parts of the apartment and any outstanding amounts. Precisely to protect them until the end of the contract, it is not possible to pay the rent using the security deposit paid, not even near the end of the contract. The security deposit will be returned, barring damages or outstanding payments, by bank transfer.
Can closing costs be deducted from the security deposit?
The closing costs of the contract will be deducted directly from the security deposit paid before check-in, unless the amount paid is not sufficient to fully cover the costs. In the latter case you will be asked to integrate the difference due.
