Here's what you need to know
What is the security deposit?
The security deposit varies based on the length of the contract (and will never be required for stays of less than 30 days), but in any case it never exceeds three months' rent. It is required to guarantee the proper maintenance of the apartment or room and the common areas of the apartment and to cover any outstanding amounts. To protect these amounts until the end of the contract, rent cannot be paid using the security deposit, even near the end of the contract. The security deposit will be refunded, barring damages or outstanding payments, via bank transfer.
Can closing costs be deducted from the security deposit?
Closing fees will be deducted directly from the security deposit paid before check-in, unless the deposit is insufficient to fully cover the costs. In this case, you will be asked to pay the remaining balance.
