The Path of the Big Trees in Recoaro Terme
In the province of Vicenza, there's a beautiful hike with a charming name. This trekking route is suitable for the whole family and is perfect for those who love nature in all its facets. The Big Trees stand imposingly like guardians of the forest, allowing you to walk along a wonderful trail and enjoy a forest bathing experience that rejuvenates all the senses and rejuvenates both body and mind. We are immersed in the spectacular scenery of the Venetian Prealps, and the trail leads from Recoaro 1000 to the Battisti alla Gazza Refuge, a 12-kilometer one-way walk with a return trip along the same trail.
The Big Trees Trail seems like something out of a fairytale: a magical experience that will take you into the wildest and most majestic nature of the Venetian Prealps, with beech and fir forests offering unique shades of color. The refuge is perfect for a quality lunch break, and you can also visit the Ecomuseum of the Great War of the Vicenza Prealps located here for a complete experience. At the end of the trail, you can pass through the beautiful town of Recoaro Terme before returning to your apartment in Vicenza and enjoying a healthy, well-deserved rest.
Lake Coldai in Alleghe
We're in Alleghe , in the province of Belluno , offering an experience for the more adventurous and trekking enthusiasts , one of the most beautiful hikes in the Veneto Dolomites. There are many ways to reach this picturesque lake nestled between the peaks, including via cable car, but the classic route starts from Piani di Pezzè and takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes each way, with a total elevation gain of about 600 meters. After gathering information in Alleghe, we set off on trail number 564, which climbs steeply along the ski slope.
You reach Malga Pioda at 1,816 meters, then take trail 556 to Lake Coldai and reach the refuge at 2,132 meters. A truly beautiful landscape will unfold before your eyes: this trekking route is quite challenging but rewards you with its beauty, the trees reflected in the lake giving a sense of infinity and wonder. Good weather is a must, however, so it's best to set out carefully checking the forecast.
Euganean Hills
Not only the high mountains, but also the Euganean Hills are awash with color thanks to the madness of autumn. In particular, you could embark on an autumnal trek along theAnello del Monte Venda, about 7 km long, to admire the changing leaves of centuries-old chestnut trees, olive groves, and fields cultivated by the local farmers.
During your trek, you'll stumble upon some unmissable gems, including the ruins of the Olivetan Monastery. At the end of the day, after photographing the forest's carpet of leaves, you can return to your cozy, warm apartment in Padua to relax.
Lessini Mountains: the Eagle's Horn
If you're looking to spend an autumn weekend in Verona, its province offers the chance to admire truly evocative foliage. The Corno d'Aquilo trek is perfect for spending a day in a forest of hornbeam, chestnut, beech, and oak trees before reaching the summit of Corno d'Aquilo on the border between Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige. Here, you'll be treated to not only a panoramic view of the Lessini Mountains but also a breathtaking view of Lake Garda.
In short, a trek that can be done in any season and which starts from Contrada Tommasi for a very short distance, just 3 km, but certainly an experience not to be missed for true foliage lovers.
Staying in Verona allows you to explore the surrounding areas independently by car, perhaps even visiting the famous villages overlooking the Venetian shore of Lake Garda out of season.
